Sorry (Again)

I know I haven’t posted in quite a long time, but I’m still completely swamped in work. Between school (senior year is harder than junior year, despite what everyone says), college applications, play rehearsals, and all that other stuff I do for “fun”, I barely have a social life, let alone time to post on this thingy.

But the good news is that I am nearing the end of my college application stuff and the play is nearing its end (before the next one starts), so I should be back to having free time in the somewhat near future.

So I was trying to fix something on our highschool’s webpage the other day, and almost vomited. Everything was done with tables, without a

in sight. All I was trying to do was add a blockquote to an unordered list, but it ended up taking me nearly an hour. It was seriously the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. I convinced the webmaster that it sucked, and he agreed (he didn’t design the page). So, I am now giving up my study hall 3 days a week to take out all that table crap and put in good ‘ol CSS(link) (Cascading Style Sheets) and stuff. Make sure the content and the presentation are separate, if you know what I mean.
So I’ve spent an hour looking at the header, trying to figure out what the hell is going on. There are two full tables before the menu is even on the page, one inside of the other. There are tables inside of tables and it makes me want to puke.
As if that wasn’t enough, the sidebar is part of the footer and the mySQL server login info is stored in the “athletics” directory with a name that has nothing to do with the contents of the file.
And then the blogs started. A few of the teachers wanted a way to post info and stuff for the students, so we made blogs for them (Wordpress, if you must know). After I set up a plugin to make the comments threaded, one teacher (who shall not be named) complained about the default theme (yes, it is ugly, we know). So I volunteered to make a new theme.
I figure I can slightly modify it for this site, so it won’t be for nothing. I’m thinking mainly black and white for both sites, with a thin header and a menu in tabs on the right side of the header. Something pretty simple and very clean. Rounded corners and shininess for all.
I have a few ideas in my head, and I’ll be posting updates throughout the process. I do need some comments and suggestions on this one, though. My first time doing anything like this, and I could use some help.
So that’s about all I can type for now, I have to get back to homework.

I disagree with your statement that senior year is harder. Let me give you an example why you are wrong: last Friday I had no class until 11th period, I had no teacher 2nd period, I watched a movie 3rd period, had a free period 4/5 and 6/7, I watched a movie 9th period, and finally I played bingo 10th period. 11th period (A.P. American Government w/ Ms. Logas) I actually had class.

Once we are done with college apps it will get easier, esp. in the 2nd semester until we get close to A.P.’s then it gets really hard and stressful. My Economics teacher already gave up on us! It’s great! I assume you have a crap load of A.P.s though and that will be a lot harder than my schedule.

By the way, FIREFOX 2.0 ROCKS!!!! GET IT NOW!!!! IT HAS SPELL CHECKER!!!! PLUS ITS NOT INTERNET DESTROYER 7.0!!! And you don’t have to sign up for Windows Genuine Advantage! (huge plus, never ever sign up for that)

It’s harder for me, at least. I’ve never had a day like that.

And I’ve been running Firefox 2 since the first beta was released, and yes it does rock.
