What Games Should You Get This Fall?

Here’s the idea, I’ll make a little blurb about each game that I think is worth looking into this fall. If you think I missed any, just say so and please try to follow my format for each entry.

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusades – It’s a WoW expansion, ‘nuff said. Beta testing has been promised. Platform - PC. Release date – late 2006.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point – The expansion pack to an amazing shooter, it carries on the story where it left off in F.E.A.R. There is a demo available. Platform – PC. Release date – late 2006.

Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption – This is the expansion to the best Star Wars RTS ever made. It occurs during the timeframe of the 2nd and 3rd Star Wars movies. It adds TIE Interceptors, B-Wings, Super Star Destroyers, the 2nd Death Star, and a new faction. There is a demo available. Platform – PC. Release date –

Battlefield 2142- The next installment in one of the best FPS series. Lots of new guns, vehicles, planes, maps, upgrades, and a new game play mode that could be amazing or could suck. There is a demo and a beta out. Platform – PC. Release date- October 17.

F.E.A.R.- One year after the PC version scared the hell out of you and pwned your PC, now the console version comes down the pipe. It’s one of the few good games for the PS3, if you can get your hands on one of the 400,000. Platforms– PS3, Xbox360. Release date- PS3- November 17, Xbox360- around that time.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion- After receiving GOTY awards, Oblivion heads to the PS3 and with it comes new content and a new race. It probably will be the best seller for the PS3. Platform –PS3. Release date- November 17.

Call of Duty 3- The sequel to the best selling Xbox360 game and an amazing PC game. If you like killing Nazis get this game. It features fairly realistic combat and great gunplay, the best WWII shooter by far. Platforms- PS3, Xbox360, Wii, and PC. Release date- right before Thanksgiving.

Red Steel – This game features Japanese sword play with the Wii-mote, gun play, and great visuals, at least for the Wii. My only quibble with this game is that there is no blood. Platform – Wii. Release date- November 19.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess- It has been called the best Zelda game ever by its developers; it will also be the longest ever. The Wii version promises better aiming controls and more interactive sword play. What was the last bad console Zelda game? ‘Nuff said. Platforms- Wii, GameCube. Release date- Wii- November 19, Cube- December.

Need For Speed: Carbon. The latest version promises off-road racing and more cars. Also it puts more emphasis on car classes, deemphasizes the police, puts in a custom body modification system, and brings back a dumbed-down version of drift. Platforms – everything, probably even your cell phone. Release date – November, it’s a launch title for Wii and PS3 so expect it to come out on everything else around then.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent- You stealthily go around and kill people, knock them out, or take them hostage. This time you will have to infiltrate a terrorist group and perform missions for them and the NSA. Platforms- PS3, Xbox360, Wii, PC. Release datePS3 – November 17, Wii – November 19, Xbox360 and PC – around that timeframe.

Company of Heroes – It’s been out for nearly a month but it still should be on your radar. It features realistic combat, fully destructible environments, computer killing graphics (it owns my SLI, Athalon X2 rig at high settings), and great sound. Really the best WWII RTS out there, Relic did a great job with this game and the whole package is great. Platform – PC, Release date – it’s out now.

Wario Ware: Smooth Moves – Imagine the craziest mini games, now imagine you are actually performing those crazy actions yourself. That’s what the latest Wario Ware promises. It sounds like a hilarious party game. Platform – Wii. Release date – early December.

Madden NFL 07- It’s Madden! What else is there to say? PS3 and Wii fans can get their football fix with the greatest sports series ever. Platforms – PS3, Wii, PS2, PC, and Xbox360. Release date – The 360, PS2, and PC versions have been out for a while, the Wii and PS3 versions are launch games.

Games on the horizon- UT2007, Crysis, Spore, Super Smash Bros. Brawl., Halo 3, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy, Half Life 2: Episode 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2, Command and Conquer 3:Tiberium Wars, and Quake Wars.
